Although we are not official sports memorabilia experts or dealers we are offering this item in good faith. The Letter of Authenticity describes the item as: "If there were a book titled "Baseball Collecting For Dummies" (actually, its surprising they haven't added that title to the series yet), its almost certain that the first rule of thumb would be: "find Ruth ball, obtain Ruth ball, place Ruth ball in prominent place in your collection, and leave Ruth ball to your children in will." Offered is an exceptionally pleasing example of that most desired relic that includes an inscription from Ruth on the side panel. The item is described in the letter of authenticity as The creamy to lightly-toned Spalding baseball (it appears to be an ONL ball) has been inscribed in black ink "To Jimmy and Gerald Cochrane From Babe Ruth." Ruth's signature is perfectly centered on the sweet spot, grading "8", with the inscription appearing on the adjacent side panel. It appears that Ruth actually signed the ball before penning the inscription, as a slight portion of the name "Cochrane" overlaps the second "b" in "Babe." There has been some sort of notation removal on the ball label (which has also obscured the manufacturer's stampings) that does not detract in the least from the ball's exceptional visual appeal. The 9" knife comes with a drop point blade, Texas brass bolsters, red Amboynas burled wood handles and a hand crafted premium leather sheath.
